Unlicensed Dentist Ran Illegal Practice Inside Long Island Home, Police Say

A woman is accused of running an illegal dental office out of a Bay Shore home, Suffolk County police announced on Thursday, March 13.

Yolany Y. Mejia Carranza, 55, of Huntington Station, was arrested after detectives executed a search warrant at 1847 Heckscher Ave. and discovered a fully functioning dental office, authorities said.

Investigators believe Mejia Carranza had also operated an unlicensed dental practice at 135 Broadway in Huntington Station, police said.

She was charged with three counts of Unauthorized Practice of a Profession, a class E felony. Mejia Carranza is currently being held at the Fourth Precinct and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, March 14, police said.
